Haha, no that is a lie!
I still did a lot and worked hard this month!
And to be honest I could never have imagined it would be this beautiful!
The cover just looks so incredibly lovely and I feel so happy that I love it so much. You do hear horror stories of authors given covers they totally hate, and I feel very lucky that Wakefield Press not only had me quite involved in the cover picking, but also that I was able to put forward an illustration that my dad did especially for this book as an option.
And they accepted it and stuck it on the front cover!
It is quite bonkers really.
We also did the last proof read this month, and I received another incredible endorsement by an author I just madly love, which just blows my mind! The endorsements were such a terrifying ordeal, but have worked out so well and I feel so overwhelmed to have writers I admire so much saying such nice things about my book!
It is sort of crazy.
My Work in Progress: Project 1957.
Well I guess I finished it.
Like, this morning. But sigh, it is such a weird project and I dunno why I wrote it or what I’ll do with it, and even worse?
It’s a freaking duology!
So I really don’t at all have the normal happy buzz I usually get from finishing a first draft of a book, because now I actually have to go and write an entirely new draft of the second book in order for the story to be complete and finished.
I mean, in truth I am quite proud of myself despite my numerous complaints!
I actually wrote a lot of new fiction this year, and this project is my very first time writing a book in third person and from multiple view points (exciting stuff) and I think it has worked out (well it requires intense editing and structural re-working but it has potential and that is all I’m after for a first draft!). So actually I think I did good.
I just sort of feel like a teeny tiny little mole at the bottom of a enormously large molehill.
Still got a looooong way to go with this project!
So I reckon I might have next week off to recharge and do some HARDCORE READING (and Korean drama watching, because yes, I watch those and am madly obsessed with them) and then the following week I think I’ll start book 2. Then eventually when that is done, I’ll put the whole damn thing aside for a loooong time and focus on a project that is less silly!!!
Well that’s the plan anyway.
But the truth is, every time, I just go and write whatever weird thing I feel like writing. I can never control myself.
Nope. None of that.
Working. Writing. Reading. Watching dramas. Hanging out. Basically that is it.
Every time I write one of these I end up peeling it out and doing a separate micro review post, just because these monthly updates end up WAAAY too long.
So this time I’m gonna keep it short straight up!
You know what, I don’t think I actually read loads this month (boo hoo) but here is what I did get stuck into:
And that was it!!!
What a measly reading month, right?
Well I am halfway through a mammoth YA fantasy, (Reign of Mist by Australian Indie author Helen Scheuerer) but I’ll add that one into next month’s grouping as I definitely won’t be finishing it yet. :)
So that is it from me!
I’d love to hear from you!
What have you been reading or working on or doing? (Doesn't need to be book related... just whatever)
Anything at all! I’d love to know! :)
