Welcome to my monthly update!
Here I will waffle on for a short time about what I’ve been up to over the past month in terms of my writing progress, reading and a bit of general life stuff too.

So here we go :)

WRITING LIFE:
Oooh, let me break this down into sub sections!

Recently Finished Manuscript:
Well last month I completed a new YA manuscript, which is in the same vein as my soon to be published debut novel (so basically a cute and romantic contemporary) and had just sent it off to my agent.

I was super nervous to send it to her but she read it and came back that she really liked it (Yay!) so I am out on submission again now. A little scary, but I always prefer to have work out there with the opportunity for a yes than to have nothing going on at all. Sitting still always feels worse, so even though the more you throw your work out there, usually the more rejections you get, it’s still better to grow that thick skin and be brave.

So anyway, fingers crossed someone out there likes this new manuscript!

I am pretty proud of it, not only because I really like the story, but also because it’s the first time I sat down to write a certain thing, instead of just writing whatever weird thing I felt like writing next. It was a massive struggle, as I documented HERE, but in the end I made it, and I think I learned heaps in the process, so that is pretty cool.

No matter what happens, I really like this book, I think it is cute, and I hope it does find a home out there in the world, but now I am back to the waiting game. And you’d think that waiting game would get easier, considering I’ve been through it a billion times by now.

It doesn’t.
It still drives me absolutely crazy.

But that’s cool. I can do it :)
I’ll do it forever if it means I have the opportunity for some of my work to stick!
I am crazy ambitious with my writing (and absolutely nothing else in my entire life!) and I want to write a billion books and see them all lined up on my shelf.

And I want other people to read them and enjoy them too.
Obviously.

Making Friends with Alice Dyson - My debut Novel Update:
Oooh, this month I have given my debut novel it’s very own space in this monthly overview.
So where am I at?

Well I spent the month in agony waiting to hear back from some amazing authors and peeps who would potentially endorse my novel. Terrifying stuff.
The cool thing is that I have gotten back three AMAZING endorsements (so quotes or ‘puffs’ as apparently they are called, which can be used to promote your book for marketing purposes or slapped onto the cover of your book too).
So that is very exciting! And they are by authors and industry peeps I hugely respect, so that kind of blew me away.

I will hopefully get the chance to share those in the future, because they said super nice things about my book!

Other forward motion is I saw first cover drafts!

I will hopefully get to share a proper cover soon (which I am so very excited about!) and I really truly love the one we are going for, it is very cute and has all the right vibes for my book. Even cooler, my dad actually did the illustration that will be used on my cover, so that has me super excited!

I really hope people like it. I really do. It is super cute!

And finally, I got sent the final copy of my manuscript for the proof read, which I am doing at the moment.
So this is it folks! Really nearly there now!

Also my first author copies of my book will be coming to me late January (so still a million years away!) and I cannot wait.
I can’t believe my story will be a real book that I’ll be able to hold in my hands! A bit surreal.

Reading Life:
Yeah! I reckon with every passing day I am feeling more and more obsessed with reading and stories in general.
I LOVE them. I am truly obsessed.

So what did I read this last month?

Here is teeny tiny round up of some cool stuff from the past month, and I'll probably do a micro review post soon with my thoughts on them, cos this post is already getting too long!

But let me know if you've read any of these and what you thought :)
